Story

Pyrope garnets were not the sole province of Victorian era jewelry. Prized for their clarity, transparency and high light refractive index, these beauties vie for the attention that other precious gems typically garner.

Designed in the manner of the popular negligee pendants of the era, a necklace of forty (40) rich cinnamon red garnets is set in round collects of 14k yellow gold and attached by gold rings. Joining the rope-like necklace is a pair of modified Art Nouveau designs. Yellow gold botanicals set with faceted pyrope garnets connect a large central oval garnet.

Suspended from the garnet is pair of 14k yellow gold batons of differing lengths set with a brace of round pyropes and a teardrop faceted garnet. In total, thirty-nine (39) pyrope garnets of an estimated 28 carats total weight embellish the evocative necklace.

The necklace was recently purchased in Prague in the Czech Republic.

Date: Circa 1910.
