Story

For centuries the amethyst has been cherished for use in jewelry. The richly hued gem has been an integral part of royal gems and sacred objects.

Here we have a regal finger ring from the turn of the 20th century featuring an amethyst of an estimated 2 carats. An oval faceted amethyst of a deep purple color has been carved out and inset with a floral design outlined in gold. A trefoil motif represents a flower head similar to that of the bloom of a trillium plant with a sensuously curved stem with leaf forms. Tiny rose cut diamonds ornament the three petals and two leaves with their sparkling brilliance against a purple and gold backdrop. The 18k ring has been expertly re-shanked with a period 14k gold shank.
