Story

Although the earrings from around 1870 – 1880 were quite varied in their inspirational influence, they usually took on an oval or round shape. Here we can see the impact of classical archaeology with the gold orb perimeter and central form as well as that of the Gothic tradition with the incorporation of a trefoil element.

With an overall proportion lending itself to either evening or daytime wear, the 14k rose gold earring is set with the characteristic turquoise pavé work of the time around a natural pearl set “buttercup” mount. The symmetrical trefoil elements are accented with six (6) tiny half natural seed pearls. All pearls are untested but assumed natural due to age and examination. The underside reveals the hinged ear wires a security “C” clasp.
