Story

Enamored with organic materials, tortoiseshell was a natural for jewelry and quite beloved by the Victorian ladies. Here we have a fabulously large tortoiseshell pendant crafted in the form of the “cross fleury”. Representing faith, wisdom and charity in the heraldic tradition, this “trinity” of ideas was a motif often utilized in the Victorian age. Each limb of the cruciform traditionally ends in a floral or fleur-de-lys shape. Luscious shades of brown and caramel swirl about within the translucent organic form. The link chain and original hook are also made of the natural tortoiseshell.
