Story

As the Georgian era was waning, there was a shift in design from the ornate (Baroque and Rococo) to one with a more austere and classical presentation. A perfect example of that transformation is this 14 – 15k yellow gold cameo ring with a type of style which was most prevalent from about 1780 – 1790 until around 1810.

Carved from banded sardonyx, the oval shaped hard stone depicts a memorial urn and nature’s lament, a weeping willow tree. The base color is black and the relief stands out in high contrast white. The cameo is set closed back within a yellow gold bezel, unadorned and simple, as is the silken smoothness of plain rounded shoulders and band.
