Story

This “ultra-modern” ring is crafted of that strong and lightweight new metal that so well suites jewelry from the progressive age of Art Deco, platinum. Sleek and tailored with an understated grace that only the futurism of the industrial age could realize through the use of simple materials.

Streamlined as the spire atop the Chrysler Building in New York City, this period solitaire ring sports an old European cut diamond of approximately ½ carat (J-K color; SI1-2 clarity) placed in a round platinum “cupcake” mount with mille grain decoration embracing the surface edge. Shoulders are each enhanced with four stark ‘slabs” of black as night onyx channel set in a horizontal linear profile and brought to an immediate stop by two bars of vertical ribs with additional mille grain detailing. A botanical engraved motif adorns the setting for a cupcake like bezel. Just put on the Ritz…

Date: Circa 1930.
