Story

Ethereal as they are mysterious, it is easy to see why the moonstone gem was so adored by the fashion cognisanti of the Belle Époque. The blue moonstone in particular was lifted to the top of their preferred list.

This antique necklace is at the apex of everybody’s list as ten (10) fantastic blue moonstone cabochons have been paired with nine (9) Blue Montana sapphires each about .20 carats. Quite scarce nowadays, these gems were discovered during the late 1890s and continue to be ranked among the world’s finest. Renown for their singular corn-flower blue color, their use quickly appeared in American-made jewelry soon after discovery.

The oval moonstone cabs are fairly well matched in size at about 5/16 of an inch (0.7 cm) with the pendant drop measuring 1-1/4 inches (3.3 cm). All the moonstones are set open back in bezels of 10k yellow gold, thus enabling the maximum amount of light to flow through the stones in a showcase of shimmer and beauty. The proximity of the gorgeous Montana sapphires set in 10k yellow coronet mounts add an additional layer of visual interest with their interchange of play of colors between the translucent and adularescent moonstones. A most feminine and delicate gold link chain does its utmost to focus attention on the six inch area of wondrous gemstones.
