Story

Standing out from typical modern cut stones, the Asscher cut diamond has more fire and internal refraction due to the manner in which its facets are step-cut down toward the point on the bottom (culet) of the stone.

And fire is what this ring is all about. The Asscher cut diamond is a blazing inferno of 3 carats (color J; VVS1 clarity) double claw set at each cropped corner within a mount of 18k white gold. The central diamond is as an island surrounded by a pave sea of a set of micro diamonds.

In fact, ninety-two (92) round brilliants of about .83 carats engulf the rounded edge, rim, front, back and sides of the mount. Six (6) of these round brilliants line each of the shoulders which smoothly transition into a silken gold shank. The total estimated diamond weight is 3.83 carats.

Note: GIA (Gemological Institute of American) laboratory certificate provided for the main diamond.

Note 1: The main stone has been accurately weighed. All accent diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since those stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.

Note 2: The Asscher cut diamond was developed (and later patented) by the Asscher brothers, Joseph and Abraham of The Netherlands. This cut is known for its deeply angled corners and remarkable depth. Cut with a series of parallel steps which create more internal refraction and fire, the deep culet at the base of the gem accentuates its depth by drawing the viewer in with its astonishing clarity. With its distinctive shape, this cut is sometimes referred to as a square emerald cut as it is nearly identical to the emerald cut and has a pavilion which is cut with rectangular facets as is the emerald cut. Modern Asscher cuts have a total of 74 facets per stone.
