Sailing away...a voyage back in history to the Victorian era.
In its original box, this sterling silver brooch and earring set takes the form of three scalloped-edged seashells. Each is concave and lipped; their interiors are hand-engraved.
A lighthouse lights the harbor, evident by the rays emanating from the top of the stone or brick structure. In the foreground, rocks and land are punctuated by seagrass or vegetation.
A three-masted sailing ship flies its flags. Another sailboat lies to its right. Gulls or seabirds soar near and far.
Also engraved, the petite in scale earrings have similar themes, with a sailing boat in each, birds, and land and plants to the foreground. One even appears to have flying fish or dolphins cavorting.
The set still comes in its original fitted, antique box of brown exterior, and with a deep blue velvet and silk interior.
Note: Any darker areas are a result of shadows. All are solid silver with highly polished backgrounds. Given the size of the earrings, the hand-engraving must be viewed closely to appreciate the detail.
