The diamond rivi?re (from the word river in French) owes it origins to the Georgian period of jewelry (1714-1840). A line of graduated diamonds in a necklace fitted close to the collarbone first made its appearance in the 18th century. While similar styles in pearls or other gemstones can be traced back earlier, those set in diamonds were not prevalent until this time.

In variations on a theme, the rivi?re has been with us ever since. No wonder as it is infinitely versatile and sensuous, directing the gaze to the dimples at the collar and thus up and down. Such shimmer in a sleek line commands attention by its chic simplicity and sheer prismatic sparkle factor.
All in platinum, this mid-century version has done the rivi?re one (or two) better. Its decorative and geometric clasp can be worn at the back of the neck, or in front.
Also, at 180 degrees from this, a hidden fold up or down bale allows for adding any manner of drop or pendant, be in diamond, pearl or gemstone.
With 121 diamonds and a total of 7.82 carats of diamonds, the slightly graduated necklace creates just enough look with a presence that doesn't overwhelm. Layer it with other chains and necklaces to dress it down, or leave it solo with an evening dress for maximum effect.
