Take your pick. A clasped hand, a bracelet on the wrist, a mouse, coral charms, good luck, a locket, lapis lazuli, all replete with symbolism and exquisite craftsmanship.
Good luck is the leitmotif, and this colorful antique brooch is a scarce one and our first ever like it.
A natural coral clasped hand, it is realistically carved. On the wrist, a gold bracelet is studded with a turquoise. Its arm is composed of a solid piece of gold-flecked lapis lazuli. A cuff of fine gold is frilled and has applied wire work.
Atop, an 18k gold ornate cap is also adorned with turquoise. The domed tip is hinged and reveals a small secret compartment inside.
Those charms! All in natural coral, there is salmon hues, white and black coral. Four are tips of branches, and one tiny coral mouse!
Scarce, and one of a kind.
Note: The clasped hand motif has been utilized throughout history. While this is not a figa, with the thumb between fingers, it is a mano (hand). Coral, long known as a good luck charm, flourished in many countries and ages, protecting all including children. The addition of a locket is particularly rare.
