August Man's Gold Ring

SOLD Item 6629

Decidedly different, this elegant yet virile gentleman’s ring has a central plaque flanked by handsome ornamentation on the sides representative of longevity, creativity and quality. The base of the plaque and the band are richly appointed with acanthus leaves, flora and scrolls which are deeply worked in the gold. The recesses are highlighted with red-hued ochre patina which gives a great depth and weight to the piece. The center panel is ready to be engraved with a monogram or family crest. Prodigious in size and substantial in weight at 12 grams, the entire ring tapers from 13/16 of an inch high to 3/16 of an inch at the bottom of the band (2.1 cm by 0.4 cm). The central plaque measures ¾ of an inch in length by 9/16 of an inch wide (1.8 cm by 1.5 cm). In excellent condition with mild wear to the gold commensurate with age and use (with nothing of any consequence). Size is US 8-3/4 (UK R; Euro 18.75). Hallmarked with a swan and “585” for 14k gold. Continental in origin, circa 1940. Classic and timeless in design.
