Rose Gold Tracery Pendant & Earrings
Ladies of the 18th Century would often wear demi-parures consisting of two to three matching pieces of jewelry. This refined three-part pendant and coordinating earrings express the elegance of Georgian design in a very subtle and grand manner. A four petal flower blossoms in jewelry form using tracery and the quatrefoil motif typically found in Gothic architecture and represented here through a Gothic revival style. Note the very stylized bows. The open trelliswork of rose-gold and faceted glass cast a sense of lightness while still creating a true sophistication and presence with shadow and silhouette. Très chic indeed. Pendant measures 3-3/4 inches in length by 2 inches at the widest (9.5 cm by 5.1 cm); earrings are 2.5 inches long by 2-3/8 inches wide (6.4 cm by 6.0 cm). In very good condition with original ribbon loop on pendant. Originating in Southern France or Spain, ca. 1780-1790.
