Cut Steel Heavenly Antique Brooch
With any near imperceptible movement, this antique brooch comes alive with light. Made entirely of steel, each faceted bead is secured with a pin onto a steel base at the back of each bead. Twelve facets have been polished on each of the smaller beads. Each of the marquis shape beads have a flat top and beveled edge.
One of the striking features of this brooch is condition. As close to perfection as can be expected, the surface is in mint condition and definitely reveals why cut steel has been so popular throughout the centuries.
This Victorian brooch has been passed to us and was a personal heirloom. For years the elderly owner kept this piece in potato starch, thus its pristine condition.
Condition: Excellent; the only item of note is a slight bit of movement in the outer oval, which is secure and stable.
Measurements: More than 2-1/4 inches (5.3 cm) in width by 1-5/16 inches (3.3 cm) in height. This antique brooch has a weight of 10.2 grams.
Date: Circa 1870
