Story
This example of a mid 19th century Victorian pendant hails from a tradition echoing those grand 18th century motifs of ribbons, bows and teardrops. The impact of a Baroque style is apparent. This superb pendant is characterized by symmetrical and lively curved forms.
Cast and yet mostly hand-crafted from silver into a most exuberant configuration, the foliate and Baroque design features a dazzling array of clear white pastes. Please note the large cushion shaped central pastes; shaped pastes all but disappeared after around this time being replaced by round simply faceted pastes only. The three articulated elements encourage a lovely fluidity of movement and display a rich ornamentation.
