Early Spring: Antique Demantoid Garnet Diamond Ring
Garnets have been prized as gems throughout the course of the history of jewelry. Yet the green variety referred to as the demantoid garnet was not discovered until the mid 19th century. Originally uncovered in the central Ural Mountains of Russia, these “Ural pearls” are always green in color and can range from a very light yellowish peridot green to one close to the color of an especially fine emerald.
A trio of oval faceted demantoid garnets with an estimated weight of .60 carats brings hints of spring with a fresh shade of green. Set horizontally in a mount of 18k yellow gold, the demantoids are separated by two columns of two (2) old single cut diamonds with an estimated total weight of .10 carats.
Date: 1900.
Measurements: 3/16 of an inch (0.4 cm) in length north to south on the hand and rises 1/8 of an inch (0.3 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 3.4 grams (2.2 dwt).
Ring Size: US 6-1/2 (UK M-1/2; Euro or Int. Circum. 53.1 mm; Int. Dia. 16.9 mm; Japan 13) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.
Condition: Excellent; one minute chip to a diamond only visible with magnification.
