Translated from the website of Decoration and Arts de la Table, the brand mark Topázio is owned by Ferreira Marques & Irmão, S. A., since 1874. The company has one of the largest factories in the Iberian Peninsula, producing objects in silver and silver plated of high quality, sharing the brightness of that metal with crystal, glass or ceramics according to the designer inspiration. Jewelry from this firm has become quite collectible and pieces from their mid 20th century category are especially prized.
Egyptian in motif in every sense of the word, this .835 silver bracelet (sterling is .925) is bold and powerful in both form and content and we at The Three Graces are in love with their designs. This particular large hinged bangle bracelet has an Egyptian Revival motif detailed in wide and deep repoussé resulting in clear and detailed images. Pharoah heads ensconced in period headdress are surrounded by multiples of the papyrus stalks and images of revered serpents. In the foreground, a pyramid. A silver safety chain ensures a secure closure.
Date: Mid 20th century.
Measurements: 7 1/8 inches (18.1 cm) in length by 15/16 of an inch (2.3 cm) at the widest. Should fit most any wrist. Weight of 40.2 grams (25.9 dwt).
Hallmarks: Topazio and two silver marks, 835 for silver.
Condition: Excellent.
