Desire Incarnate: Art Deco Diamond Sapphire Bracelet
It can be stated that during the Art Deco era the bracelet reigned supreme. These wrist and arm adornments ranged from exquisite jewel encrusted Indian and Egyptian designs to lines of gems. The years between the late 1920s and early 1930s brought forth a type of bracelet referred to as the line bracelet.
Although lean in profile, this platinum bracelet exudes luxury and substance. A series of four (4) natural sapphires rectangular cut and channel set alternate with four (4) old European cut diamonds to create a bracelet of twenty (20) sapphires of an approximated 6 carats and twenty (20) diamonds with a total diamond weight of 1.2 carats (I-J color range; VS-SI1 clarity). The side detail is superlative with small incised snowflake-like patterns.
Date: Circa 1930.
Measurements: 7 inches (17.8 cm) in length when worn by and 3/16 of an inch (0.4 cm) in width. Weight of 21.1 grams (13.5 dwt).
Hallmarks: “8228” – possibly a model number.
Condition: Excellent.
