Essence of Edwardian: Diamond Ruby Ring
An oval faceted ruby of an estimated .65 carats flashes with a fine red color with highlights of fuschia and crimson against an octagonal diamond studded backdrop. An inner band of fourteen (14) old mine cut diamonds set in platinum topped 14k yellow gold encases the centered 5 mm by 4.5 mm gem as a band of eighteen (18) old mine cuts outlines the perimeter. In all, thirty-two (32) old mine cut diamonds of an estimated 1.45 carats contribute their brilliance to the warm glow of the ruby. A pierced and open work under gallery of 14k yellow gold provides a fine foundation for the glorious gems set above.
Date: Circa 1900.
Measurements: 3/4 of an inch (1.9 cm) in length north to south on the hand and rises just over 1/4 of an inch (0.6 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 5.2 grams (3.3 dwt).
Ring Size: US 6-3/4 (UK N; Int. Dia. 17.1 mm; Euro or Int. Circum. 55.7 mm; Japan more than 13) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.
Condition: Very good; top is excellent; ring has been expertly reshanked.
