Georgian Pearl Envy in a Rose Gold Earring
Georgian era earrings of exquisite craftsmanship and enchanted design take away your breath with a single glance. Rose gold of 14k is the foundation for a three element articulated earring. A flower cluster surmount is set with eleven (11) luscious natural seed pearls and suspends a hinged open teardrop embellished with seventeen (17) graduated in size natural seed pearls in pinched collets. Within the teardrop is a hinged inner pendant of five (5) similarly set natural pearls in a small to large linear form. All of the pearls are set closed back in the typical Georgian manner of the period. Scalloped perimeters of pearl set rose gold create an ethereal earring to trump all others.
Date: Circa 1820.
Measurements: 1-1/8 inches (3 cm) in length including ear wire and 1-1/16 (2.7 cm) without. Weight of 4.0 grams (2.5 dwt) for the pair.
Condition: Excellent; conversion from back to front ear wires to shepherd's hooks; one pearl with a hairline fracture but stable and is visible with magnification.
