20th C. Sentimental REGARD Ring

This specific type of ring is referred to as a REGARD ring. Set with a ruby, emerald, garnet, amethyst, ruby and diamond, the first letters of the stones lend themselves to spell the word and express the intended sentiment. Such jewelry was thought to have originated in the late 18th or early 19th century. The form has continued that tradition as in this 20th century example in 9k yellow gold.
