Star Light in a 14 c. Star Ruby Diamond Ring
Star rubies are a rare variation of the ruby gemstone. These precious stones display a optical phenomenon referred to as “asterism” – when light passes through the crystalline structure a star-shaped figure appears across the surface.
Big, bold and beautiful in that inimitable 1960s era style, this dinner ring will create a starry-eyed hypnotic effect. Cut en cabochon, a natural (not lab created) star ruby of an estimated 14 carats is simply claw set within a mount of icy white platinum. The deep burgundy red of the gem is the perfect backdrop for the distinctly lighter pink-white six-ray star best viewed in bright sunlight.
Rotate your hand and the star magically glides across the surface of the ruby. The sides are embellished with two (2) old European cut diamonds and four (4) baguette diamonds with a total estimated diamond weight of .30 carats.
Date: Circa 1965.
Measurements: 5/8 of an inch (1.4 cm) in length north to south on the hand by 1/2 of an inch (1.3 cm) in width and rises 3/8 of an inch (1.0 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 7.8 grams (5.0 dwt).
Ring Size: US 6 (UK L-1/2; Euro 16.5; 51.5 mm; Japan 11) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.

Condition: Very good; a bit of very minor surface wear to gemstone visible with magnification.
