Even the Victorians had a special place in their heart for Georgian jewelry. This marvelous 18k yellow gold and silver-topped ring takes its cue from those wonderful bejeweled buttons which the Georgians converted into rings. A luscious square cut deep purple amethyst of an approximate 1.75 carats is centered within a corona of fourteen (14) rose cut diamonds with an estimated total diamond weight of .25 carats.
The matrix of the ring is finished with a surround of fourteen (14) faceted round cut amethysts of well matched purple hues for an additional approximate total 1.10 carat. All of the stones are set in silver-topped yellow gold of 14k and a pinched silver perimeter. Please take special note of the sensational open and pierced gallery with applied acanthus leaf motif and beautifully designed shank of 14k yellow gold.
Date: Circa 1880.
Measurements: 3/4 of an inch (2 cm) in length north to south on the hand by 3/4 of an inch (2 cm) in width and rises 5/16 of an inch (0.7 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 6.0 grams (3.9 dwt).
Ring Size: US 7-3/4 (UK P; Int. Dia. 17.9; Euro 56 mm: Japan 12) and easily can be sized to fit most. Ring sizing information.
Condition: Excellent; one diamond with chips; one diamond with two scratches; evidence of a previous resizing visible with magnification.
