Impressive Natural Pearl & Diamond Ring
There are hundred of thousands of shelled life forms in the world yet only a few of them can produce those gorgeous little orbs with nacre – the substance that lines the shell and creates the coveted unique luster of fine quality pearls. The genus Unio mollusk is one of those gifted which produces a freshwater pearl.
A trio of those natural half orbs ranging in diameter from 7.25 mm to 8.15 mm is set horizontally in an 18k yellow gold mount. Flanked by two pearls with a slight pink glow, the center pearl stands out with its slight silvery grey tint. Nestled amidst nature’s bounty are four old European cut diamonds adding their unique brilliance to the luster of the pearls. Along each shoulder each navette shaped collet embraces three (3) old hand cut single diamonds which bring the total estimated diamond weight of the ring to .15 carats. Please note the unexpected flower shaped gold back to the interior of the ring in addition to the charming scrolling gallery.
The ring is accompanied by a Gemological Institute of America (GIA) certificate.
Date: Circa 1900.
Measurements: 5/16 of an inch (0.8 cm) in length north to south on the hand and rises 5/16 of an inch (0.7 cm) in height off the finger. Weight of 8.4 grams (5.4 dwt).
