Diamond Carved Moonstone Necklace
A radiant sheen of blue emanates from this carved moonstone pendant. A woman's profile is delicately sculpted into the face of a blue moonstone. Oval in shape, the moonstone is more than 12 mm by 9 mm in size. While the moonstone is petite, the radiance of the color overwhelms. A surround of platinum is set with eight (8) old European cut diamonds. The original bale adds an additional five (5) old European cut diamonds bringing the total estimated diamond weight to .40 carats. The accompanying paper clip chain is delicate and fine in 14k white gold.
Date: Circa mid 20th century.
Measurements: 1-1/8 inches (2.9 cm) in length including bale and without from diamond to diamond is 3/4 of an inch (1.9 cm) by 11/16 of an inch (1.7 cm) in width. Chain is 15-3/4 inches (40 cm) in length. Weight of 4.2 grams (2.8 dwt).
Hallmarks: â14kâ on the chain clasp; pendant is platinum, tested, but unmarked.
Condition: Excellent; chain has been added later.
Origin: Chain is American.
