Wonderful Art Deco Diamond Earrings

Some believe that Louis Cartier was “The It Boy” of the age of Art Deco jewelry. Under his direction the House of Cartier created some of the most magnificent and exotic pieces ever seen. In fact, it was he who introduced the baguette diamond shape - a step cut diamond that is similar to other square to rectangular shaped step cuts, such as the emerald cut and is typically used for accent diamonds). Used particularly during the early 20th century, the baguette cut shape was again incorporated in jewelry of the 1950s – 1960s as well as in modern pieces of today.

Used at will in these wonderful platinum earrings (with later 14k white gold omega backs and posts), five (5) baguette cut diamonds form a pyramid at the pinnacle which then segues with the exquisite geometry of the period. These are articulated to sway and move with elegance.

Beautiful design work of a total estimated 1 carat (H-J color range; VS2-SI1 clarity) for thirty (30) diamonds for each earring include one (1) old European cut at the bottom with a weight of .50 carats, twenty-four (24) single cuts and the five (5) aforementioned baguettes. Appointments of mille graining lend a truly elegance brush stroke to an already superb earring.

Date: Circa 1930.
