A Memory of 1820 - Wide Memorial Band
From around 1820 though the 1840s the English used a marvelous chased floral motif for many items of jewelry. Here is a perfect example in the form of a memorial ring.
All in 15k yellow gold, tiny raised flowers in minute detail line the top and bottom of the wide band. In the center, two black enamel bands border the phrase "In Memory Of" realized in raised Gothic script. The interior is fully hallmarked and is engraved "Mrs. Eliz: Jones Ob '10 Jan 1820” in a flowing script. This translates to Mrs. Elizabeth Jones shook off her mortal coil on January 10th of 1820. This is a poignant example of a superb legacy of love and sentiment wrapped in a beautiful relic.
Measurements: 5/16 of an inch (1.1 cm) in width. Weight of 8.4 grams (5.4 dwt).
