Georgian Magic: Amethyst & Pearl Pendant
With a puff of smoke and an abracadabra every clever Georgian jeweler could transform not only the configuration and style of a piece of jewelry but also its type. From a brooch to a pendant in one fell swoop is the “presto change-o” of this lovely treasure.
Characteristically Georgian, a superb faceted amethyst stone 9/16 of an inch by ½ of an inch (16 mm by 13 mm) has been foiled and bordered with twisted gold wire work. Sumptuous natural white half pearls (untested but assumed natural) embrace the royal gem with a lustrous surround of creamy contrast. All set closed back within a 15k pinched collet bezel. Chain is shown for illustration purposes only and is sold separately.

Weight of 9.2 grams (5.9 dwt) of pendant itself not including chain.
Condition: Very good to excellent for front; on reverse original pin stem has been removed and original hinge made into a pendant bale; a bit of dimpling to the reverse.
