Victorian Gold Mizpah Ring

$1,450 USD Item 12179

Sentimental jewelry was markedly popular during the late Georgian, Victorian and early Edwardian eras. Used as a means for expression in an otherwise “constricted” society, this type of jewelry was freely exchanged between friends, family and lovers.

Perhaps one of the more poignant examples is that of mizpah jewelry. The word literally means watchtower in Hebrew and represents the saying “The Lord watch between me and thee when we are absent one from another" as an emotional bond between close relatives or lovers that were about to be separated by catastrophic events such as war.

In high relief the letters M I Z P A H span the wide expanse of an 18k yellow gold ring. Ring sizing information.
