Art Deco Diamond Sapphire Engagement Ring

$6,750 USD Item 12086

The jewels of the mid-1930s began to give way to a more three-dimensional quality with a somewhat larger horizontal form and a shift to white gold as metal of choice as in this 18k gold engagement.

Centered in a square pronged setting is an estimated 1.00 carat old European cut diamond (K-L color; SI1-2 clarity) that “faces up” (a term used for how a diamonds shows to the eye when worn) a lovely, shimmering white.

Architectural influences were becoming more integral to the design as the side accent stones of 6 faceted sapphires of about .10 carats and the six (6) old style single cut diamonds of an approximate .10 carats reflect in the style of the setting and in the structure of the open under gallery.

Measurements: More than 1/4 of an inch (0.7 cm) in width north to south on the hand and rises 1/4 of an inch (0.6 cm) off the finger. Weight of 3.8 grams (2.4 dwt).

Ring Size: US 6-3/4 (UK N; Euro 17.25, 54.5 mm) and can be sized to fit most any hand. Ring sizing information.

Condition: Some wear to the accent sapphires; one chipped all visible with a loupe; light wear overall.

Date: Circa 1935

Note: All diamond and gemstone weights are approximate as the stones have not been removed in order to preserve the integrity of the setting.
