Myth & Mystery: Moonstone Diamond Ring
Here's just the ring to represent all the glitz and glamour of 1930s cinematic greatness. Large and grand yet not over the top, gold was back in fashion and this mid 1930's gold and moonstone diamond ring fits the bill.
Myth and mystery hold that moonstone is the solidification of actual moonlight. Subtle hues of color meander amidst magical silvery blue shimmers of light underscored with white highlights within the bounds of a large oval moonstone of about 11.25 carats. Due to its dynamic nature, the essence of the moonstone is difficult to capture with photography. The first photo and hand shot most closely approximate the hues.
A simple collet of 14k yellow gold contains the translucent adularescent gleaming jewel which is in turn encompasses by a corona of twenty (20) round single cut diamonds of an estimated .60 points set in white over yellow gold. Unique shoulders gracefully taper to a banded smooth shank.
Measurements: 1 inch (2.5 cm) in width north to south on the hand and rises 3/8 of an inch (1.0 cm) from the finger. This ring has a weight of 6.9 grams (4.4 dwt).
Ring Size: US 4-1/2 (UK I; Euro 15.25, 48.25 mm) and can easily be sized.
Hallmarks: Jac. Co.; 14k.
Condition: Excellent; one small indentation to the underside; light wear as expected with age and use.
Date & Origin: Circa 1935 and is American in origin.
