Seashells & Petals - Antique Diamond Ring

Item 11968

The unusual and very striking 14k white gold mount sets this Edwardian old European cut diamond solitaire ring apart. The very beautiful estimated .42 carat diamond of G-H color and clarity SI (only due to a tiny white feather barely into the table or central part of the gem) is mounted in a decorated bezel within a hexagonal setting.

Impressive and arresting, the mount is adorned pierced and open metal work of flowers in an open nautilus shell design with floral embellished shoulders concluding with a reeded band.

Measurements: 9/32 of an inch (0.7 cm) in width north to south on the hand and rise 9/32 of an inch (0.7 cm) from the finger. This ring has a weight of 2.5 grams (1.6 dwt).

Ring Size: US 7-1/2 (UK O-1/2; Euro 17.75, 56 mm) and can be sized to fit most.

Hallmarks: 14k and maker's mark of CJD.

Condition: Excellent; light softening at lowest points of side detail.

Date & Origin: Circa 1915 and is American in origin.

Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
