Art Deco Emerald Diamond Earrings
This pair of early Art Deco earrings sparkles with all the trappings of splendor inherited from the preceding Belle Époque. Gleam and glitter from gorgeous precious metal and gems radiate from the frame of a classic cluster style earring.
The oval shaped 18k yellow gold structure captures the bold spirit of the times with a central emerald of an estimated .40 carats (for the pair about .80 carats) enfolded within a brilliant corona of ten (10) old European and modified single cut diamonds and surmounted with a larger diamond. In total, twenty-two (22) glorious diamonds with an estimated total diamond weight of 1 carat for the pair. A finely detailed 18k crown mount and lever back ear fittings finish the jewels.
Measurements: 15/16 of an inch (2.4 cm) by 3/8 of an inch (0.9 cm) in width. This pair of earrings has a weight of 4.6 grams (3.0 dwt).
Date: Circa 1920
Overall Scale: Small
Note: All diamond and gemstone weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
