Dazzling Victorian Citrine Flower Pendant
During the Romantic Period the influence of the natural world loomed large. Victorian designers realized this through the fabrication of generously sized jeweled pendants in flower form.
Given this elegant composition, natural citrines, popular with Victoria’s ascension to the throne, have been faceted and mounted in pinched collet settings of 9k yellow gold. The central element of the flower is formed from an ample citrine. Smaller citrines (ten in all) have been arranged in a petal-like structure and surround the central gem. Gloriously dazzling to the eye with its almost golden yellow-amber coloring, the stones are visually represented most closely in the photograph with the hand.
Measurements: 2-3/16 of an inch (5.7 cm) in length not including bale by 1-7/16 inches (4.1 cm) in width by 3/8 of an inch (1 cm) in depth. Center gem is 13/16 of an inch (2.1 cm) by 11/16 of an inch (1.7 cm) in width. This antique pendant has a weight of 20.1 grams (13.0 dwt).
Condition: Good; tiny areas of reinforcing silver solder on the back jointures of all the connection points of central oval which are visible with magnification but not from the front. All stones display gradations of yellow and amber. The top loop has been reinforced or remade and the bale is more modern.
