Opals & Emeralds in a Victorian Ring
A kaleidoscope of color emanates from four cabochon opals which intermingle with deep green emeralds. On each side, a trio of rectangular faceted cuts, all are set in 15k yellow gold with a gallery of swirling gold. Engraving graces the sides and the back of the band.
Measurements: 5/8 of an inch (0.9 cm) north to south on the hand and rises 1/8 of an inch (0.3 cm) off the finger. The width from emerald to emerald is 5/8 inches (0.7 cm). This Victorian emerald and opal gold ring has a weight of 2.1 grams (1.3 dwt).
Ring Size: US 6 (British L-1/2; Euro 16.5, 52 mm) and can be easily sized.
Hallmarks: “15” for 15k; maker's mark partially obscured and another obscured mark.
Condition: Very good; excellent top; previous sizing with some loss to small engraving on back of shank; a tad bit of wear to very back; one emerald chipped and visible only upon magnification.
Date & Origin: Circa 1860 - 1870 and is English in origin.
