Antique Diamond Engagement Ring

SOLD Item 11471

The white on white color scheme was favored for Edwardian era jewelry. Fashion held that only white metals (platinum, white gold) were worthy of diamonds to reflect a true sense of refinement and luxury.

Elegance and femininity are showcased with an old European diamond of approximately .12 points (color H-I, clarity SI1-SI2 only due to a clear feather inclusion in the center, has no carbon or dark flaws). As if floating in a pool of air and lightness, the solitaire diamond appears larger than its stated size, as it is set into an 18k white gold mount with a pierced gallery and open shoulders accented with a laurel leaf motif.

Measurements: 1/4 of an inch (0.6 cm) north to south on hand and rises just shy of 1/4 of an inch (0.5 cm) from finger. This ring has a weight of 1.7 grams (1.1 dwt).

Ring Size: US 7-1/2 (UK O-1/2; Euro 17-3/4, 56 mm) and can easily be sized by our jewelers.

Hallmarks: “18K”

Condition: Very good; light wear to the top and back shank as expected with age and use.

Date & Origin: Circa 1915 and is American in origin.

Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
