Simplicity & Drama: Silver Paste Pendant
This early 19th century pendant has been designed of two elements—a surmount and a tear-shaped drop. Faceted round cut clear white pastes have been foiled and set close backed into silver. Glittering white pastes, interspersed among curvilinear patterns of silvery metalwork, perform their series of delightful grand arabesque as the paste refracts and the silver reflects.
Possessing that much sought-after versatility, wear the delicate drop solo with a sheer ribbon threaded through its original bale and tied at the neck or for an even more dramatic look, join the sections together and wear with a long length of velvet.
Condition: Excellent; one tiny reinforcement to top “O” fitting of bottom drop.
Measurements: 3 inches (7.4 cm) in total length and 1-7/8 inches (4.5 cm) for bottom drop by 1-13/16 inches (4.6 cm) at the widest. This pendant weighs 17.2 grams.
Date: Circa 1830
