Baroque Silver Openwork Pendant
Hallmarks for French jewelry are often found on fittings such as "O" fittings, ear wires and connection points between the various main parts. Here we find three hallmarks on the top "O". A gleaming pendant of high grade silver, the piece is baroque in style and uses the ornate, curvilinear forms which initially originated in the late 17th and early 18th century.
The use of cast faceted beads of silver almost mimics the cut steel work of the day. Textural patterning and higher polished silver contrast, making this a visually intricate pendant.
Hallmarks: French marks for eagle's head and two other illegible marks.
Measurements: 2-5/16 inches (5.7 cm) in length by 1-1/2 inches (3.8 cm) at the widest. This antique pendant has a weight of 10.5 grams.
