French Dazzle: Antique Old European Cut Diamond Earrings
As intense and stunning as a performance of the French Apache dance, dazzling little beauties in the guise of old European cut diamonds have been set upon a crown of gold. One of the diamonds is .70 carats with a G color and clarity of VS-1; the other is .66 carats, G color and VS2 clarity (one is deeper than the other so weighs more). Claw set within a mount of 18k pierced and open yellow gold work, these stunning gems create a three-act play of light and sparkling radiance. In addition, above each of the main gems is a tiny rose cut diamond accenting a rhomboid shaped silver appliqué. Yellow gold lever back ear wires complete the look.
Condition: Excellent; light wear to part of gold mount; both ear wires are slightly out of round.
Hallmarks: French poinçon eagle's head.
Measurements: 9/16 of an inch (1.5 cm) in length by ¼ of an inch (0.7 cm) in width and depth.
Date & Origin: Circa 1910 and is French in origin.
Note: All diamond weights, color grades and clarity are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
