King of the Jungle - Lion Motif Ring

Substantial and finely constructed, the motif of a lion serves as the basis for a powerful ring. With a roaring open mouth, its jaws hold within a brilliant cut diamond of 10 points. Of 14k yellow gold, the leonine expression is finely crafted and detailed. The shank is partially hand worked with acanthus leaves and other patterns of deep chasing.

Condition: Very good. Light wear overall; a bit more wear to the sides and back gold work; one side with a bit more loss to the depth of the detail; possible evidence of an old resizing visible with a loupe.

Hallmarks: 14k and unknown maker's mark.

Measurements: The ring is 3/4 of an inch (1.8 cm) at the widest north to south on the finger. The band tapers from 5/16 of an inch (0.8 cm) to 3/16 of an inch (0.5 cm). It sits up 3/16 of an inch (0.5 cm) off the finger. Quite august with a weight of 17.6 grams. Currently a size US 9-1/2 (UK T; Euro 19.5, 51 mm) but can be sized down a few sizes or up.
