Victorian Scottish Agate Bracelet in Gold
Formality and symbolism interplay in this special rose gold and agate Scottish bracelet. Jasper, Montrose agate, bloodstone and ocher brown agate are inlaid within the engraved rose gold. The Celtic cross motif is artfully expressed within the various hues of agates against the polished and engraved gold work. The sides are ribbons of gold inlaid with agates.
Of 9k rose god, rare is it to find bracelets in crafted in gold. As most were wrought in silver, these gold bracelets are the ultimate for the collector and possessor. Circa 1870, proportion, size and construction seamlessly blend together in this must have example.
Condition: Very good. There is one small chip to the side of a jasper on the top inner circle; a few tiny edge chips on various agates; one tiny ding to the gold work along the side of the bracelet.
Measurements: Circle measures 1-5/16 inches (3.2 cm) in diameter by ¼ of an inch (0.7 cm) in depth at the top center. The sides graduate from the widest of 7/8 of an inch (2.1 cm) down to ¼ of an inch (0.7 cm). This antique bracelet has a weight of 33.9 grams.
