Victorian Watch Cock Necklace

SOLD Item 11195

What is a watch cock? It is a hand-fabricated part essential to the inner workings of pocket watches commonly found in the 18th century. Usually made of metal alloys, Pinchbeck was often used. Please see our "Jewelry History" section under "Helpful Terms".

Looking closely at each link, an amazing variety of intricate designs—floral, serpents, faces and scrolling designs—emerge. In the later 19th century, it was popular to link these parts together and wear as necklaces and bracelets.
