Art Deco Opaline Glass & Enamel Beads

SOLD Item 11193

Opaline glass made a comeback in the early 20th century after its long absence since the 18th century. Ovals of this milky hued material form beads, the eye picks up the multiple shades ranging from white to pink to lavender and blue. Even hints of golden yellow break through in the light. Small faceted black glass beads tip the ends and then silver links these to rings of black enamel. Graduating in size, the opaline glass beads progress from 1/2 inch to over 3/4 of an inch in length (1.2 cm to 1.7 cm).

Condition: Excellent. Tiny and minute flaws to the black glass faceted beads, silver has some patina.

Measurements: 29 1/2 (74.8 cm) inches in total length. The widest point is 9/16 of an inch (.14 cm).

Date: Circa 1925.
