Dated 1904 Art Nouveau Gold Signet Ring
This Art Nouveau ring displays free-flowing curves with sinuous lines set upon a canvas of 9k solid yellow gold. Evocative images of female profile forms with long cascading hair are intertwined among organic “S” and whiplash curves and flank a not-as-yet engraved surface of gold. Please note that in some of the photos the darkness on the face of the ring is an effect of the lighting. Contributing to its myth and mythology, the interior of the ring is inscribed in flowing script with "Presented to D. Walter D. Miesse No. 463. RoA. (or PoA) 1904 by Conestoga Council".
Condition: Excellent; light wear as commensurate with age and use.
Measurements: 5/8 of an inch (1.6 cm) in height north to south by 7/16 of an inch (1.4 cm) for the signet area by 1/16 of an inch (0.2 cm) in depth. This antique ring has a weight of 11.2 grams. Currently is a size US 11 (UK V-1/2; Euro 20.5, 64.5 mm). Sizing latitude is limited without impacting on the integrity of the inscription.
