Art Deco Lapis & Diamond Ring
Art Deco was about bold geometry and an innovative use of semi-precious and colored gems such as jade, lapis, coral, onyx and chrysophrase to embolden the exotic themes and motifs of the day.
A dramatic cabochon of fine deep blue lapis lazuli is the focal point for the center of this circa 1920 Art Deco ring. Old European cut diamonds ranging in size from .02 to .05 carats lend sparkle and contrast against the intensely colored lapis. The platinum mount displays the jeweler’s fine craft with diamond set shoulders and a reeded band. Even the undercarriage of the ring beneath the lapis reflects the quality of the work with its flower form.
