Marcus & Co. Antique Sapphire Diamond Ring
Marcus & Co. was a preeminent jewelry maker of the late 19th and earlier part of the 20th century. Exceptional in quality, this ring is sophisticated and shimmering.
A fine rich, faceted oval sapphire is set within a hand made platinum mount. Faceted and oval it measures 8 mm by 5 mm and is approximately 1 carat. Dotting the surface are thirty four (34) small single cut diamonds of varying sizes from .04 -.01 points. With the pierced work within the setting and the fine diamonds, the surface is a cascade of light and prismatic color.
Condition: Very good. Medium wear to the back of the shank and sides with a small amount of surface detail worn smooth; an old resizing is also evident; three minute losses on the edges of the sapphire stone all only seen if viewed with a loupe.
Measurements: Ring is 7/8 of an inch (1.2 cm) north to south on the finger; it sits up 3/16 of an inch off the finger at the center (.5 cm). Currently a size US 5 3/4 (UK K 1/2; Euro 16.25; 51 mm). Easily sized by our expert jewelers.
