Greek Key Niello Locket Pendant
Double-sided and double-mirrored, this niello compact locket is sleek, practical and wearable. A Greek key pattern emblazons both back and front with it silvery grey and graphite black. Fanning open, it reveals the two original mirrors on each side. If preferred, the mirrors can easily be removed and instead have an insert made for the two thin locket compartments.
Hallmarks: The original pendant bale is marked "K.S."—most likely the maker. Also marked "900" for 900 out of 1000 parts silver, which is just shy for sterling silver at 925.
Measurements: Diameter is 1-13/16 inches (4.6 cm) without the bale; 2 inches (4.7 cm) in width with the bale. Each interior mirror measures 1-3/8 inches in diameter. Has a weight of 25.7 grams.
Date & Origin: Circa 1920. Continental in origin.
