Silver Chrysophrase Lipstick Pendant
Lipsticks, compacts, purses and cigarette holders were once under the aegis of the fine jewelers. Set with precious gems or worked in silver, gold and fine metals, what we today think of as disposable, was then an art form.
An apple green chrysophrase polished gem studs the end of this sleek and sensuous lipstick case cum pendant. Of 900 silver (925 out of 1000 is sterling (900 is just below this grade), it is fully engraved with ocean waves patterns as well as floral, zig zag patterns and more.
Condition: Very good to excellent; later top "O" fitting for use as a pendant; light wear overall with a tad bit of wear and patina on interior compartment.
Measurements: Length is 2-13/16 (7.2 cm) by 1/2 of an inch (1.2 cm) in diameter and ½ of an inch (1.2 cm) square at the gem. The interior compartment is 5/16 of an inch (0.9 cm).
Date & Origin: Circa 1925 and is Continental in origin.
