Sensuous Art: Nouveau Garnet Ring
With a nod to nature and an emphasis on sinuous curves, this Art Nouveau ring of 18k yellow gold presents an intensely colored garnet at the forefront. Claw set, the deep wine cinnamon color faceted stone measures 7.0 mm by 7.0 mm by 4 mm and is estimated at 1.9 carats or a tad more. A trellis of gold openwork branches nests the gem within an undulating sculpted gold frame.
Condition: Excellent; light overall wear has imparted a smooth gold silken finish.
Measurements: Less than ½ of an inch (1.1 cm) at the widest and rises more than 1/8 of an inch (0.4 cm) off the finger. Has a weight of 3.8 grams. Currently is a size US 5-3/4 (British K-1/2 to L; Euro 16.25, 51.5 mm). Our expert jewelers can size up or down to fit most.
Date: Circa 1910
Note: All gemstone weights are approximate since the stones were not removed from their mounts to preserve the integrity of the setting.
