Natural Ruby Studded Hoop Earrings

Item 11051

Hoop earrings were first seen in ancient times and through early history making another appearance in the mid 18th to mid 19th century. Falling out a favor until the 20th century, hoop earrings have never left the fashion scene with big comebacks in the 60's and recently back in vogue.

A lush count of twenty (20) oval cut faceted natural rubies encrusts the surface of each earring. Fashioned of warm 15k rose gold, they date to the early part of the 20th century. Each stone is hand cut and varies slightly in size and shape. Sizes range from approximately .06 to .08 carats for a grand total carat weight of about 3 carats for the pair. Colors vary from deep pink hues with light to medium pink in between.

Condition: Excellent; many stones have inclusions visible with a loupe.

Hallmarks: "LAY" or LAV" and another illegible mark.

Measurements: Hoops measure 1 inch (2.5 cm) in diameter and just shy of 1/4 of an inch (0.5 cm) wide. Lightweight on the ear, the pair weighs 3.6 grams.

Date: Circa 1920.
